Be here now, with yourself, with your world, with all that is happening. Right now. Noticing, taking it all in, but not assuming that it is right or wrong, good or bad. Just allow it to be. It is simple, but not easy. Letting it be is not something we have been taught. It is not natural, despite being our true, natural state. We push away, pull close, hide, fight, give in.
Stress is an effect of being alive, but the judging, fighting, forcing and ignoring exacerbate it. The practice of mindfulness brings us close to our experience, with honesty, compassion and acceptance. Allowing reality so that we can more authentically and appropriately respond to it.
MBSR is an evidence-based, 8-week guided group program exploring the application of mindfulness in our everyday lives It gives us an opportunity to get intimate with our stress and suffering so that we may better understand our response to it and possible options to live with it
Together, each week, we will practice mindfulness in its many forms- sitting, moving, walking, scanning. There will be opportunity for small and whole group discussion, sharing, checking in, inquiry and reflection. Between classes we will be building and expanding our at-home practice with the use of guided audio and reflection practices.
This program holds the essence of MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) while honoring the constraints and needs of educators. It includes: (8) 1-hour sessions (held in the evening) Guided recordings for daily practice (1) 3-hour extended practice (held on a weekend between weeks 6 & 7)
Although this is held uniquely for educators, this programs is about being human and navigating the many challenges and joys of it.
This program is offered during the school year. Dates TBD
